1066 and all that!

Year 7 have been studying the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings, and you can look at their work here. Some students have used a variety of different drawing styles and methods of artistic presentation to show a growing understanding of the events of 14th October 1066.

Another group of students have used their understanding of audience and purpose regarding newspaper front pages to present their ideas. You can see a strong grasp of how newspaper editors try to engage their audience using irony, comedy and alliteration in their headlines.

Mr Tuohy’s classes also participated in a castle challenge, whereby small groups were given an hour to design and make a castle. Therefore, they had to use their historical knowledge, problem-solving skills and technology, as well as effective teamwork. Considering only an hour was allowed, these were impressive efforts!
