Parent Governor Election

21 March 2013

Dear Parent

A vacancy has arisen on the Governing Body of the school for a Parent Governor.  The vacancy is open to anyone who has parental responsibility for a boy at present on the roll of the school.

The whole Governing Body meets formally six times a year and members are expected to be present on other occasions such as Speech Night, some parents’ events and the GCSE Awards evening.  Governors are also members of sub-group committees which meet regularly throughout the year, namely;  Development Committee, Curriculum Committee, Health & Safety Committee and Finance Committee.

Beverley Grammar School is an Academy and Governors of the School are classed as Directors and as such, there is a requirement that any person appointed as Governor/Director has not been declared bankrupt within the last five years.  Successful candidates will also be required to undergo an enhanced CRB check prior to taking up the role of Governor.

Anyone who wishes to stand for election is invited to return the Nomination Form to the School Office by Monday, 15 April 2013.  If there are sufficient nominations I will then arrange an election.  The short statement provided on the Nomination Form will then appear on the Ballot Form.

Yours sincerely

Mr Grahame Hodson
