Fifty two students from Years 7 and 8 have been working with members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and York University MEG students this week, recreating Purcell’s ‘Fairy Queen’. Students have been learning parts of the original music as well as composing and devising other parts, using the story of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’. The last two days of rehearsals will be in conjunction with girls from Beverley High School, and the final performance will take place in St Mary’s Church on Thursday 23rd May at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Mrs Hughes in school for the reduced price of £5 each.
