Year 10 Siemens site visit

Two groups of Year 10 students had the opportunity to visit the construction of part of the new Siemens site on Friday 17th June.

As part of the “Open Doors” programme, which is designed to give people opportunity to visit a working construction site, we were fortunate to be able to see the construction of the “Offshore Maintenance Facility”, which was being undertaken by Clugston Construction.

The students had a very informative day, learning about the complexity and demands of of modern construction, the variety of careers with the construction industry and the huge opportunities in the coming years in this field.

We are very grateful to Mark Burnett, who is the Senior Project Manager for the build, and all of his team for giving so freely of their time to allow our students to have such a wonderful experience.

The best thing about the day was visiting the construction site and learning how many different contractors work together to produce the building” – A Y10 student

I have learnt about the many carer paths within construction which has helped me with what I could do in the future” – Another Y10 student
