Cognition and Learning

What is it?

This is our second specialism, granted through our HPSS - High Performing Specialist Status. Our primary focus is to raise standards across the whole range of subjects and abilities by applying our specialist knowledge of how students learn. It means that we are able to tailor each student’s learning to suit his individual’s needs.

How does it benefit the school?

Cognition and Learning (CandL) status enables us to train staff in the delivery of differentiated lessons, thereby making acces to the content of a wide variety of curriculum areas more readily available to all. We are able to provide support where it is needed, and to prepare suitable resources to enhance your son’s learning experiences.

BGS is proud to develop interactive learning opportunities, using up to date technology and resources. Cognition and Learning keeps our focus on the students and their experiences in the classroom.

Dedicated teaching groups meet regularly to keep their practice at the forefront of education and to develop aspects of education that are current priorities. Students benefit from the cascading of this knowledge into its practical application in the learning environment.
