Engineering
Why is the school a specialist Engineering College?
As an all boys comprehensive school, we have a captive, yet interested audience in all things technological! When the school first applied for a specialism 7 years ago, Engineering was deemed an area for development as we entered the 21st century.
How does this benefit pupils?
Engineering is just one aspect of the STEM (Science, technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiative. Engineering is a vital part of these subjects and they are fundamental to the understanding and application of all the many and varied branches of Engineering.
What about students who are not interested in Engineering, are they made to do it?
All students take an option at the end of year 9 which has a technical focus: it does not have to be purely Engineering as a discrete subject. Graphics, Product Design, Electronic Products and Food technology. There are also courses in Motor vehicle Maintenance, as well as Art and Design.
Are there non-engineering options?
All the other subjects that you would expect to see on the curriculum of any school are available here at Beverley Grammar School.
