Student Support Services
An efficient, dedicated and caring team of staff give freely of their time to ensure that the needs of your son are met swiftly and effectively.
Every boy is a form member, led by a tutor who knows your son well. The tutor is usually the first person who can offer help if it is needed. Every boy is a House Member: Conington, School, Burden, Minster, .... Ties are worn according to house colours!
We love to praise, celebrate and reward achievement at every opportunity, in the classroom, in assemblies, in the press, through letters, postcards or phone calls home and by the giving of material rewards such as certificates, ties, badges, and even cash prizes!
If things are perhaps not going as well as they should, with your agreement, our team works with a wealth of outside agencies to raise any barriers to learning. Issues of poor organization may be addressed by our Academic Mentor, attendance issues by a Learning Coordinator (LCO), or, for example, possible self esteem issues by our School Social Worker. The list is very long, but we always walk the extra mile to liaise with outside expertise to ensure that your son feels safe and cared for in our school.
All BGS staff have completed Child Protection training.
