Aims of the department

  • At BGS we aim to instil the enjoyment and excitement of Science into each and every student so that they become confident in the use of  Science in their everyday lives.

How do you bring this subject to life at BGS?

  • Through a range of learning styles, but particularly by making use of practical work and skills.

What facilities do you have?

  • 6 Science laboratories, most of which have recently been refurbished

What is the coolest thing about the department?

  • Everything about Science is cool (apart from the surface temperature of the sun, which is quite warm).

What do pupils enjoy most about learning in this department?

  • Science is extremely popular at the school.
  • So many things in science are either interesting, creative, logical, important, downright bizarre or some combination of all of these!
  • This makes virtually every single science lesson different.

What teaching styles do you use in the department?

  • The Science department use numerous teaching styles to best metamorphasise the interesting, creative, logical, important and downright bizarre characteristics of the subject and the pupils.
