Staffing & Facilities
The department it is staffed by committed enthusiastic and highly trained team including two teachers with specialist qualifications in SEN, dyslexia and the autism spectrum. The TAs have experience in many areas of SEN and disability and are highly trained.

Inclusion Development Programme
The focus of the Beverley Grammar School inclusion development programme this year is Autism. All students and staff will be included is Autism awareness training. Students from Beverley Grammar School have worked with the LEA to teach others about Autism at the LEA Inclusion Conference
Facilities
Access is not easy on the school site but we have tried to make adaptations to improve this as far as is possible given the age and layout of the building
There is a lift and stair lifts to access first floor areas.
At least one classroom in subject areas has a Sound Field systems

TA Support
Teaching Assistants work under the direction of the SENCO and class teacher. They promote inclusion, supporting students in accessing the curriculum by removing barriers to learning.
This support includes meeting the learning, physical, therapeutic, emotional and practical needs of students with learning difficulties.
TAs work:
• within the classroom on a one to one or group basis
• in withdrawal of individuals or small groups
• in providing specialist therapies as needed under the guidance of the professional involved.
• within a subject area to remove subject specific barriers to learning.
• in a supervisory and support role outside teaching times
• as support for school visits
• to prepare differentiated materials under the direction of the teacher.
• In the preparation review and evaluation of individual targets.
• Where trained, in counsel students
Volunteers
The school makes use of volunteers, including parents and, others from the local community. Learning Support is an option on the sixth form Enrichment programme All of these groups are used to support students with the paired programme, and as part of the withdrawal programme.
