Our Computer Science curriculum is designed to equip students with the skills, confidence and ethical understanding needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. It encompasses three strands: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Literacy.
Across Key Stages 3 and 4, students engage with a carefully sequenced programme that develops theoretical knowledge and practical skills. They learn to design algorithms, build and debug programs, manage digital systems and understand data and networks. Ambitious projects such as game development, animation, modelling, and physical computing support creativity and independence while building resilience and problem-solving.
Students develop empathy through completing collaborative tasks, structured challenges, and real-world application. Programming and system topics are revisited with increasing complexity, supporting long-term retention and mastery. As students progress, they explore concepts including cybersecurity, data representation, operating systems, and software development, fully preparing them for GCSE.
Students are offered a wide range of optional homework projects throughout KS3. Participation is recognised through reward systems such as certificates, house points, and student shout-outs, encouraging resilience, ambition, and a love for the subject beyond the classroom.
Our goal is to produce capable, curious, and ethical digital citizens, prepared for further study, the workplace, and the wider world.
