Year 12

  • Summer schools for scientists interested in studying ‘Food sciences’ or ‘Plants & Crops’ at the University of Nottingham. 3rd- 5th July 2013. Collect and application form from Miss Challis or visit www.nottingham.ac.uk/biosciences/summerschools for more information.
  • FESTIVAL OF ARTS- Leeds University invites you to experience the rich and varied heritage of arts and culture of Yorkshire, dating back hundreds of years. 5th June- 19th July. Limited spaces available. artsfestival@leeds.ac.uk
  • OXBRIDGE- Miss Challis has some new information about admission interviews.
  • OXBRIDGE- SI-UK Oxbridge service provides advice and support on getting into top universities. The service doesn’t come cheap but Miss Challis has more details on what is available.
  • Apply for a ‘sandwich course’ and spend a year of your degree earning money while getting some valuable work experience. Speak to your tutor, Miss Challis, Mrs Mayfield or Mrs Walters for more information on the benefits of a placement year.
  • Get an academic scholarship for up to £3000 when you apply for a course in the department of Automatic Control & Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield. More information can be found on the 6th form notice board or at http://www.shef.ac.uk/acse
  • Villiers Park Educational Trust inspiring excellence programmes still available for June and July 2013 including: ‘Creative Writing: Finding Your Voice’, ‘Law: Criminal Issues’, ‘Human Physiology and Sports Science’ and ‘History’. Each course lasts 5 days and is well recognised by Universities.
