Year 9 have been studying modern America this term including some work on how the ‘Western’ Landscape has arguably influenced the identity of the USA and its people. Some boys showed a great deal of progress in terms of applying their ICT skills to a piece of work demonstrating this.
The ability to use such skills as well as an understanding of historical information and imagination to present quite complex ideas effectively and engagingly to an audience is vital in the 21st century workplace. As such those boys in Year 9 who find history interesting should seriously consider it as a GCSE option as this approach to learning and the skills and aptitudes it develops continues in Years 10 and 11.
