Year 7 go to church and prepare for the afterlife

Year 7 have been studying religion and how it changed in medieval and early modern Britain. As such they looked at the Catholic Church’s ideas regarding Heaven, Hell and Purgatory and the role they played in society. The boys were asked to design and complete their own version of a Doom Painting like the ones painted on medieval church walls to remind congregations of the paradise or punishment that awaited them in the afterlife on a weekly basis. Parents might want to look at this interesting insight into the minds of eleven and twelve year old boys at Beverley Grammar School.
