Showcase 2015

The 10th BGS Showcase was enjoyed by an impressive crowd on Tuesday 7th July. The Showcase really did show a wide range of talent, from music to comedy, drama and magic, all excellently compered by Tom Marton.

The show began with veteran year 11 performer, Harry Ballard on electric guitar, before the audience was left gasping and open-mouthed by William Blanchard’s amazing magic show. We still don’t know how he managed to get a red ball, orange and lemon out of a silver cup!

Students from all year groups performed, including year 7’s Alex Crockett, who gave a confident and convincing performance of Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’, and Simba Chaitwa and Thomas Barnard who performed an exciting and fun song which they wrote themselves. I’m still singing the chorus, so it must be a hit!

More senior performances were also enjoyed by the audience, such as George Brown’s complex electric guitar tribute to Joe Satriani, Tom Foulkes touching monologue, and Hannah Waters’ emotive performance of ‘Titanium’.

Ben Keightley and Dom Brown’s rock medley should also be mentioned as it was a fitting end to the first act, leaving audience members tapping their toes, singing along and playing name that tune through the various rock classics that were included.

The show was completed with a company performance of Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’, with solos by Matthew Wastling, Tom Foulkes and Mrs McKee. Isaac Binnington also added the very quick violin riff, which really added to the performance.

The energy with which the show ended showed the enjoyment from the performers – the night rocked! Well done to everyone involved!
